For most of my life, I’ve watched romance happen for others while remaining on the sidelines.
In the past five years alone, I’ve been invited to over 40 weddings. Many of those same friends are having their first, second or third babies. While I love supporting and showing up for my friends’ life moments (read this post about attending 16 weddings in one year), it does have its own challenges.
In the day to day, singleness is what I’m used to and there are many aspects I wholeheartedly enjoy. But there are also moments where I cannot help but feel the shifts of my friends entering into different life stages and feel left behind. Or wonder where I fit in with my community.
I wrote about the emotions of attending weddings but I don’t typically share about dating. Even less would I ever expect to share on a podcast, but when my friend Kelsey Kruzel asked me to be a guest on her podcast to talk about being single during a pandemic, I said yes.
